We rebuilt how apps run, and it changes what a plan means. You can now create as many apps as you want — plans differ by resources, not by a cap on the number of apps.
Right-sized, shared, efficient
Each customer runs on a right-sized virtual machine — tiers from Ember (1 vCPU / 256 MB) up to Nova (8 vCPU / 2 GB) — with an in-VM pool that keeps idle apps cheap. When memory gets tight, the least-recently-used app is paused and woken again on the next request. That's why a single small machine can comfortably host many apps that aren't all busy at once.
Isolated by default
Apps are isolated from other customers by the hypervisor, and from each other within your account by a locked-down firewall and hardened runtime permissions. More apps doesn't mean more exposure.
Quotas that add up, fairly
Storage, database and email quotas are now shared per customer and per plan, aggregated across all your apps — instead of awkward per-app limits. Spin up ten small apps or one big one; what matters is the total, and your plan sets that.
